Cover-Up & Rework Tattoos in Prague
Old ink you have outgrown, or a piece that never turned out right. We design around what is there.
People outgrow tattoos, and some were never done well. With an experienced artist and a considered design, most existing tattoos can be transformed into work you are glad to show. Cover-ups are a design problem first and a tattooing problem second, so we begin with an honest assessment of what is on your skin.Outgrown it, or never liked it? We assess your old ink honestly and design around it.

The old tattoo decides the rules
The main constraint in any cover-up is the pigment already sitting in the skin. Dense black tribal work, heavy fills and scarred linework cannot be painted over with lighter ink. The new design has to use deeper tones, clever negative space and texture so that what lies underneath is absorbed into the composition.
Faded tattoos, old grey wash and light outlines are far kinder. They leave room for detail, soft shading and even colour. This is why we ask to see the tattoo in person: a phone photo hides the depth of the ink and the texture of the skin.
Expect the new piece to be larger than the old one, often by a third to a half, so the transition looks natural and the focal points sit away from the old markings. We will tell you early if a clean cover is unlikely, and what the alternatives are.

Almost any tattoo can be transformed with the right design, but not always into a light or colourful piece. Dense dark ink limits what is possible, and we will tell you honestly before you commit.
Photos distort the depth of ink and the texture of the skin. An in-person look under direct light lets the artist plan properly. The assessment is part of the free consultation.
Usually, yes. A larger piece makes a natural transition possible and keeps focal points away from the old ink. We discuss size and placement with you.
Only sometimes. If the old ink is very dark and dense, lightening it with two or three laser sessions can open up better design options. Fading does not need to be complete.
Often, yes, by reworking lines, shading and composition. Your artist will say what can be improved and what would be better covered.
It depends on the size, the density of the old ink and the time needed. You get a specific estimate at the assessment, with no obligation, and a deposit is only taken after you approve the design.
